Director
América grew up in Michoacan, Mexico, and came to the US as a young adult. As an immigrant herself, she is passionate about working for the local immigrant community. América was first involved with IRIS as a recipient herself, and she joined the Board of Directors to give back to her community and to continue to grow as a leader while helping to shape the development of IRIS.
América’s goals include learning English fluently and increasing her direct involvement with immigrant families. She lives with her husband and four children in the Skagit Valley and enjoys going for walks and taking her kids to the park.
